Cantoria, with 3,592 inhabitants (INE, 2025), lies beside the River Almanzora. The Cosentino Group is based in the municipality, and part of the local economy relies on processing marble from nearby quarries, alongside citrus growing on the riverbanks.
Its heritage includes the Palace of the Marquises of Almanzora, from the late 19th century; the neoclassical house of the Marquis de la Romana; the baroque chapel of San Cayetano and San Antón, from the 18th century; and the Teatro Saavedra, from 1926.
Its patron saint fiestas, in honour of San Cayetano, arrive in early August with a colourful parade of floats.
